Finding Light in the Darkness: Reflecting on an Evening with Dr Bill Webster

Grief is a journey that no one should have to walk alone. Yet, when we experience a profound loss, it can often feel like the world has moved on while we are left standing still in the dark.

This week, we had the immense privilege of hosting an evening with Dr Bill Webster, an internationally renowned grief counselor who brought his deep professional wisdom—and, more importantly, his own personal experiences of bereavement—to our community.

It was an evening filled with raw honesty, gentle comfort, and a shared understanding of what it truly means to lose someone we love. For everyone who joined us, we hope the night brought a sense of peace and the reassurance that whatever you are feeling right now, you are not alone.

Understanding the Language of Loss

Dr Bill reminded us that grief isn’t a problem to be solved or a disease to be cured. It is a fierce, natural expression of love. When we lose someone, our world changes entirely, and learning to navigate that "new normal" takes time, patience, and an immense amount of self-kindness.

One of the most powerful takeaways from the evening was the importance of community. Having a safe space to acknowledge our pain, share our stories, and cry—or even laugh—without judgment is a vital part of healing.
