Edward Poole from A.J.Sellman said “We are extremely pleased to win this award which is a great testament to everyone involved at Sellmans who serve our local area.”
The Funeral Planner of the Year Awards focus on the achievements of independent funeral directors, who make up a majority of the funeral industry.
With the most recent SunLife figures showing that the average price of a basic funeral has increased by more than 90% in the past 11 years to £3,693, more people are choosing to use funeral plans to freeze the cost of the funeral director's services at today's prices.
A.J.Sellman are building an extension to their office at Cannock. Ralph Poole (Director) said, “We are really excited about extended our office capacity which will help us continue to serve the bereaved.”
The staff at A.J.Sellman have raised £515 this Christmas for Acorns. Cakes were made and sold as well as a raffle at the staff party which raised £160.
A J Sellman Family Funeral Directors has been named 2015 regional Funeral Planner of the Year, for the second time, in an annual awards ceremony run by leading funeral plan provider Golden Charter.
Edward Poole said “Its a huge honour to win this award again and a credit to the efforts that everyone at A.J.Sellman has put in to serving people who are interested in a funeral plan.”
This Christmas the directors and staff at A.J. Sellman will be raising money for Acorns
A.J.Sellman would like to announce the opening of our new branch office this Autumn at: 67 Station Street, Cheslyn Hay, WS6 7EG.
A J SELLMAN FAMILY FUNERAL DIRECTORS NAMED NATIONAL AND REGIONAL FUNERAL PLANNER OF THE YEAR
Staffordshire firm selected from a network of more than 3,000 independent funeral directors to win Golden Charter awards
A J Sellman Family Funeral Directors has been named national and regional Funeral Planner of the Year in an annual awards ceremony run by leading funeral plan provider Golden Charter.
The sixth generation family business, which has served the Cannock and Penkridge communities since 1870, was named the best UK firm for the medium-sized business category at the prestigious awards ceremony which was open to Golden Charter's network of more than 3,000 independent funeral directors.
The owners and staff at A J Sellman took home the award in recognition of their dedication and commitment to providing an outstanding service to the local community.
Funeral Director Edward Poole received the award on behalf of the company from Ronnie Wayte, Chief Executive of Golden Charter. In addition to the contemporary award and framed certificate from Golden Charter, the Woodland Trust has dedicated a quarter acre of woodland in the firm's name at Pipe Hall Farm Woods, Lichfield, in recognition of their achievement.
The 144 year old family firm is owned and run by George Poole and his two sons, Edward and Ralph. As well as catering for families immediately after they have lost a loved one, A J Sellman offers Golden Charter pre-paid funeral plans. These allow people to pay for their funeral at today's prices, avoiding rapidly increasing funeral costs. However, a funeral plan also gives people peace of mind in the knowledge that they have relieved their nearest and dearest of a huge emotional burden. People are able to discuss their funeral wishes rationally, rather than in a distressed state of mind.
The company is also involved in fundraising for local hospice St Giles which provides free care and support from its facilities in Sutton Coldfield, Walsall and Whittington. Last year, in partnership with Golden Charter, A J Sellman donated a total of £6,375 to the charity. For every funeral plan taken out with A J Sellman, £50 is donated to the at-home St Giles nurses who work within the community.
Edward Poole said: “The award recognises the hard work, dedication and professionalism of all of us at A J Sellman.”
Ronnie Wayte added: “This is the 21st year of the Funeral Planner of the Year Awards, and each year it becomes more difficult to choose a winner. Through these awards, Golden Charter celebrates personal excellence and professional commitment in one of the most difficult and challenging areas of serving the public.
“A J Sellman has set a very high standard and we are delighted to recognise this tremendous achievement.”
People buying pre-paid funeral plans are protected against inflation and benefit from the reassurance of knowing that the cost of their funeral is covered - no matter how far into the future.
To celebrate winning the award with the local area, A J Sellman is offering £100 off their funeral plans to anyone who mentions their Funeral Planner of the Year success until 30 April 2014.
